Jump to Lightspeed: Getting Back into Space
JTL is enabled here, with a working squadron for each of the three pilot factions. You can also use the Character Builder Terminal to become Master Pilot for your chosen faction, skipping the mission progression but missing out on the missions and their loot rewards.
Skip the shuttle routine
The biggest everyday benefit of owning a ship is the Travel button at the starport terminal. Travel directly to available destinations without buying shuttle tickets, waiting for boarding, or booking multiple legs through travel hubs.
Xarxet City is a Galactic Starport, so you can use your spaceship directly from home.
A few useful flight controls
Finding your way around
- N: Open the zone map. Probably the most useful shortcut to remember. Right-click a waypoint or space station on the map to autopilot toward it.

Right-click a space station or waypoint and choose Autopilot to. - H: Open the hyperspace window. Choose your next space destination.

Choose a system and jump point, then click Hyperspace. - Alt: Toggle mouselook and the mouse cursor. Switch between looking around and using windows or menus.
Contacting a space station
For repairs or permission to land, fly into the station’s central U-shaped opening, then press Shift+C to open comms.

Targeting and mission interactions
- X: Cycle through targets under your reticle.
- I: Inspect a targeted ship when a mission calls for it.
- U: Dock with a targeted ship when a mission calls for it.
- Following an escort. During an escort mission, target the ship you’re escorting and type
/follow.

Pilot factions and squadrons
Each faction has three squadron storylines. Ships belong to the faction’s lineup, rather than individual squadrons. Difficulty labels describe the original routes. In the SWGEmu code we started with, pilot missions were in disarray: no squadron was fully functional, and only Havoc had partially working missions, so we fixed it first. Gray rows mark the routes still incomplete here.

Go pick a fight in Deep Space
For sheer fun, there’s hunting down capital ships and taking on targets much bigger than you.
- Rebels: Take on an Imperial Star Destroyer.
- Imperials: Attack Freedom Station and hunt the Rebel corvettes patrolling the zone.
- Freelancers: Traditionally, you declare for a Rebel or Imperial side before entering Deep Space, then fight that side’s enemies.
This is where I’ve personally been spending a lot of time blowing things up. Bring a ship you like, good equipment, and preferably a friend.
Missions are coming back
Status as of October 29, 2026
Missions matter because they teach you the controls and mechanics of flying, fighting, and traveling by ship. Skipping to Master gets you into the cockpit, but the missions help you learn what to do once you’re there.
Arkon’s Havoc (Rebel), Imperial Inquisition (Empire), and CorSec (Freelance) have completed questlines. CorSec is now fully implemented and fully voiced. The other six squadron routes are still incomplete.
If there’s another squadron you’d like to play through, let Nori know. That will help us decide which one to work on next.
